Meet the Cast of Dracula, Part 1

Vera Causa Opera is thrilled to announce some of the cast members for our February production of Dracula by Dylan Langan.

 

 

Alexandra Delle Donne- Dracula's First Wife

 

This season, soprano Alexandra Delle Donne has completed her Bachelor's degree in classical Voice Performance from the University of Toronto. Alexandra had the pleasure of singing with Vera Cause Opera in Puccini’s Le Villi. She will be performing in the Guelph Festival Concert as a featured soloist. She recently performed in Handel's Solomon as Woman One with the Victoria Conservatory of Music. Alexandra was also sponsored by the Faculty of Music Undergraduate Association from the University of Toronto to perform a summer recital at Heliconian Hall. 

 

 

 

Máiri Demings- Van Helsing

 

Máiri Demings is a mezzo-soprano hailing from Springhill, Nova Scotia. She graduated from Acadia University with a Bachelor of Music in Vocal Performance in 2017. She is now perusing a Masters of Music in Vocal Literature and Performance at the University of Western Ontario under the tutelage of Torin Chiles. While at Acadia she was an active member of Acadia’s Singing Theatre Production Ensemble, as well as a soloist in the Acadia Performing Arts Series Tom Regan Memorial Concert, Acadia University Chorus, Parrsboro’s Classics by the Bay, and was the Nova Scotia voice representative for the 2016 National Music Festival in Edmonton. Recent roles include Mercédès in Bizet’s Carmen (Halifax Summer Opera Festival), Edith in The Pirates of Penzance (UWOpera), and Cherubino in Le Nozze di Figaro (Accademia Europea Dell’Opera). Upcoming performances include Dracula with Vera Causa Opera and UWOpera gala.

 

Camilo Rodriguez-Cuadrado- Dr. Seward

 

Colombian baritone Camilo Rodriguez-Cuadrado obtained a Masters degree in voice performance from The University of Western Ontario in 2018.  Camilo will join Vera Causa Opera’s 2018 – 2019 season, singing the role of Dr. Seward in the opera Dracula by Canadian composer Dylan Langan and the role of Dr. Dulcamara in the opera Elixir of Love (L’elisir d’amore) by Gaetano Donizetti.  He has performed with The University of Western Ontario Opera Workshop, Accademia Europea dell’Opera, Fundación Jaime Manzur, Canadian Operatic Arts Academy, Little London Community Opera, Caldas Symphony Orchestra, Universidad Nacional de Colombia Symphony Orchestra, and Universidad Nacional de Colombia Opera Workshop, among others.  

 

Lynne McIntee- Scientist

 

Lynne has worked in radio, film, television, voice overs and theatre including musicals in the roles of Actor, Producer, Publicist, Marketing Manager, Community Outreach, Corporate Fundraising, Co-Director & Casting Co-ordinator. She has also taught English to children and adults including the study of global citizenship & designing arts programs for international participants.  As well, she is a reporter for a local television program.  Lynne is delighted to join Vera Causa Opera and this talented cast & crew in Dracula.

 

 Sophie Feng- Maid

 

While having a full time job as actuary, Sophie finds her passion in singing and acting. Sophie joined VCO in November 2018 and sang alto in the chorus of the November production Le Villi. Sophie is also a lead singer in the barbershop Chorus Chordspinners in St Jacobs. Sophie plays piano and recently started to learn cello. She likes contributing her time in activities related to art, music, culture. 

 

 

Allison Walmsley- Mina Seward

 

Allison Walmsley is a Toronto-based soprano acclaimed for her “extensive upper register and resonate bottom” and is known to be a “natural and alluring actress” -Ludwig van Toronto. She is very excited to be jointing Vera Causa Opera as their featured artist for their 2018/2019 season. Hailing from Saskatoon, SK, she completed her Bachelor’s degree in voice performance at the University of Saskatchewan with Dr. Garry Gable and Kathleen Lohrenz Gable. Allison received her Master’s Degree in Voice Performance at Western University, under soprano Jackalyn Short, with whom she continues to study. She is a frequent participator in competitions, festivals, and other young artist opportunities including Gordon Wallis Opera competition (1st place), the CFMTA Young Artist competition (1st Place), the Toronto Mozart Competition (finalist), and the MYOpera intensive training weekend. Some of her opera roles include Adina (L’elisir d’amore), Queen of the Night (The Magic Flute) with Opera Kelowna, Morgana (Alcina), Nanetta (Falstaff), Cat in Saskatoon Opera’s (The Bremen Town Musicians) and Emily (Our Town). This past summer, Allison has had the pleasure of performing two new works in VCO’s Canadian Opera Fest as Kate in The Covenant and Luna in Padajuča Zvijezda as well as participating in the Ukrainian Art Song Institute’s week-long intensive. In addition to opera, oratorio and concert work are Allison’s passions, and she particularly enjoyed understudying Haydn’s Creation this past year with Pax Christi Chorale, as well as putting together a recital with friends in March. In the year to come she looks forward to performing as soprano soloist in Handel’s Messiah with the Saskatchewan Symphony Orchestra, and Beethoven’s 9th Symphony with the North York Concert Orchestra and understudying Monica in The Medium with White Mills Theatre Co.
