Vera Causa Opera is made up of an amazing team of inspiring, passionate individuals, who work together to bring the community accessible opera performances for all.
Throughout the year, we'll be showcasing our team members and what they do for VCO.
Let's get to know Ana Flitton, our new Content Coordinator!
Tell us about yourself!
My name is Anastasia but most people call me Ana. I am a graphic designer who enjoys tea, travelling and painting when I’m away from my desk.
Talk about your role and what you do at VCO.
As content coordinator, my role has essentially been to help manage branding, visual marketing and content generation. In addition to this, I have recently been assisting in web design and other graphic design related tasks.
What was it about VCO that made you want to be a part of it?
I love designing for non-profits and find it really rewarding to help companies gain donors as well as awareness. In my past I have been passionate about music and arts in general, so it makes a great fit that I have an understanding of target audiences as well as a personal interest in arts advocacy.
How long have you been involved in opera, and/or how long have you been with VCO?
I have only been with VCO for about two months. Although I am very passionate about graphic design, I used to take opera classes for years and have participated in clubs and vocal performances outside of VCO in the past. I haven’t performed in over 5 years!
What has been your favourite memory/experience with VCO?
My favourite memory with VCO was my only day of being physically present due to pandemic restrictions: the last day of filming Hansel and Gretel: The Movie. It was my first day with the company and as a new staff member it was great seeing participants so energetic and excited to perform.
What are three words to describe VCO?
Fun, inclusive and educational.
What is your favourite part about working behind-the-scenes?
I love taking behind-the-scenes photos. It’s fun to do but great to know that the photos will later on be not only a momento for participants, but also to share with VCO viewers!
With the upcoming season being planned, what are you most excited to experience as a new member of the VCO team?
I am very excited to see the planning and development of making an Opera into a film for our second time! VCO’s first film was a very fun and exciting process for participants in spite of COVID-19 restrictions. I can’t wait to see the creative direction taken with Gondoliers and even more excited for the final film.
Thanks for all the incredible work you do for VCO, Ana! Check back in February to see our next team member highlight.
