Vera Causa Opera is made up of an amazing team of inspiring, passionate individuals, who work together to bring the community accessible opera performances for all.
Throughout the 2020, we'd like to showcase the team members and what they do for VCO.
Next up, let's get to know Zach Daza, VCO Musician and our Grant Coordinator!
Tell us about yourself! I am just a guy who loves music! I mainly play piano, but play a bunch of other instruments as well. I also like video games, reading, and long bike rides. What was it about VCO that made you want to be a part of it?
Well, at first, it was getting to play piano with other musicians. As for becoming part of the team, it just felt good to be doing something more for such an amazing opportunity like VCO.
How long have you been with VCO?
This has been my first year with VCO. It has been a blast getting to play piano and do some behind-the-scenes work!
What has been your favourite memory/experience with VCO?
It was definitely playing piano for The Child and the Spells, the opera we performed last November. It was so much fun. The piano part was quite challenging, and getting to play in an orchestral setting made it quite a treat.
What are three words to describe VCO?
Fun, interactive, meaningful.
What inspired you to want to work with VCO in a more behind the scenes role, and not just as a part of the creative team?
It means so much getting to do something more for an organization that has positively affected me as much as VCO has. Sometimes writing grants can get monotonous, but writing them always makes me remember how special VCO really is and what a privilege it is to be a part of the team!
Thanks for all the incredible work you do for VCO, Zach! Check back in October to see our next team member highlight.
